Create cool cards from paper scraps with the Mirrored Strips Technique. Gather that pile of paper scraps and let's get started!

Mirrored Strips Tutorial

Start by creating a custom "print" with Round and Round Stamps and CS® Hybrid Ink Pads on Ivory paper. Visit my blog post from last week to learn how.

Did you know you can use your grid ruler as a stamping block? This works particularly well for images with a lot of surface area. Pressing down firmly on the thin acrylic allows for a cleaner ink transfer to the paper.

Once the "print" is complete it's time to trim!

Gather your scraps - or larger panels - and trim into 1/4" strips.

Remove the backing from a piece of sticker paper*; place it onto your work surface with the sticky side facing up.

Adhere the strips to the adhesive backing, alternating colors and prints.

Continue adding the strips until the entire surface is covered.

Trim the panel to 2.75x5.25".

Place the panel horizontally onto your work surface. Use a mat with a measuring grid or grid ruler to locate the center of the top edge. Position a circle die* in the center of the top edge of the panel. Secure the die with washi tape to hold it in place during the cutting process.

Set the half circle aside.

Repeat the die cutting process to create evenly-spaced half-circles along the edge of the panel.

Mat the die cut piece with a 4x5.25" card panel. Carefully position the half circles along the edge to "mirror" the openings as shown.

Round and Round Mirrored Strips Card - Julie

Add the art panel to a folded card base. Stamp the round sentiment with Sandstone ink, die cut, punch, or cut into a circle shape with scissors. Adhere to the card with Foam Adhesive to create dimension.

Architectural Elements Card - Lisa

Lisa's card features a heart-shaped die and Architectural Elements paper. She added a sentiment stamped with India Ink (Happy Life 01.25), silver Dazzles, and Wine Jute tied into a cute bow.

NOTE: To create the card with a heart shape, die cut the hearts from the panel before trimming to size; THEN trim the panel down the center of the heart cut out. Cut the hearts in half and use the right side.

We can't wait to see what you make with this fun technique! Be sure to share your artwork on the Club Scrap Chat Group on Facebook. Not a member of the group yet? Simply answer the questions and we will get your request accepted in no time.

Have fun with your scraps!
