On November 21, 1847, a ship called The Phoenix was carrying 250 passengers, mostly Dutch immigrants, on Lake Michigan, near the Wisconsin shoreline. The ship caught fire and sank, claiming nearly all lives on board. In my early twenties I came to learn that I am a descendent of one of the survivors of that tragedy. It is no surprise that I grew up in a small Wisconsin town called Oostburg, which was settled by the Dutch. In fact, my high school mascot is "The Flying Dutchman!"

I am proud of my Dutch heritage, and am pleased that we were able to create this gorgeous collection honoring the still-popular art style made famous by the Dutch known as Delft. We chose to accent the typical shades of blue with a gorgeous pop of yellow. I want to thank Hetty Sanders (who resides just outside of Amsterdam) for suggesting this beautiful theme to our design team!

A NOTE FROM TRICIA

We have some big news to share! Our Club Scrap family is happy to welcome its newest member, Craig Hein. Brenda has been working diligently with Craig to bring him up to speed on all of her tasks while she prepares to depart for the adventure of a lifetime. She will spend the next several years exploring our National Parks system full time with her husband. Brenda, thank you for blessing us with fifteen years of loyal and dedicated hard work. You will be missed beyond measure and will always be part of our family. Craig joins us with a background in retail management, and has worked at a packaging company for the past six years where he gained unique skills that are well-suited to our operations. Welcome to the team, Craig!

Deb is busy packing workshop and retail items for our first expo of 2017. I'll be hitting the road with Karen for CKC-St. Louis on April 7-8 at the Gateway Center in Collinsville, IL. (Yep, it's the St. Louis expo, but it's in Illinois.) Registration is now open for workshops and show tickets. We hope to see you there!

Next, we'll head to the Milwaukee State Fair Park on April 21-22. Registration opens on the 7th.

KIT AND COLOR DETAILS

The handwriting font in this collection, Agent 'C', was inspired by the quotes and labels found on Delft tiles and plates. We balanced that with Imperator, a clean, legible serif. Kay will share more about the beautiful cards she created with her Delft unmounted stamps on the blog on Thursday. She used Sapphire, Topaz, Jet Black and White Pigment inks for her cards.

DELUXE LAYOUTS

If you're up for a new technique, you'll be happy to see the versatile 8" Cracked Porcelain Stencil included in your kit. You'll need a heat tool, clear embossing ink and powder, and Sapphire ink to get started.

GREETINGS TO GO

I can't wait to tell you more about the clever interlocking card fold featured in the Greetings to Go set. Visit the blog tomorrow for details.

Vaarwel! (Bye!)

Tricia
