Create gorgeous backgrounds with this tried and true embossed resist technique.
I made two 5x7" cards with the Tapestry collection and Sizzix butterfly die cuts.
Embossed Resist Cards Tutorial
Stamp the foreground images with Versamark ink onto mixed media panels.
Sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat set to melt.
Add layers of color over the embossed images with water-soluble inks (Distress and Distress Oxides) and a favorite applicator tool (makeup brushes).
Mist the entire panel with water and wipe away excess ink with a paper towel.
Stamp Tapestry images onto the embossed areas with the same inks. Darker colors work best for this technique.
Spritz the panel again with water and remove excess inks with a paper towel to make the white embossed images POP!
Add a sentiment and color coordinated die cut butterflies to complete the cards.
I love the variety of looks achieved depending on the foreground image you choose to emboss.
Let's take one more look at my finished Tapestry cards.
I hope you enjoy this technique as much as I do!
