Yesterday Tricia shared layouts made using our latest special release collection. If cards are your passion, you can easily transform the Love Birds collection into 29 greeting cards with the help of Club Scrap’s card making formulas.
All formulas used are available in the digital hybrid store. If you'd like to try them yourself, you can download Idea Deck 5 Hearts and Diamonds. Each download includes 13 formulas for just $5.95.
For each formula, gather the appropriate number of papers for trimming. I've included a list of papers I used below.
LOVE BIRD GREETING CARDS
8 OF HEARTS
- A=White Floral Print
- B=Cranberry Plain
- C=Light Pink Plain
The larger cutaparts fit in the space created by the triptych panels. A strip of rose gold dot washi tape adds a bit of shine.
Trim the cutapart border strips to further embellish the narrow panels on the card.
Tie a length of the gorgeous soft pink silk ribbon onto the cutapart for an elegant touch.
JACK OF HEARTS
- A=Blue Plain
- B=White Floral Print
Wrap a length of ribbon around the open space between the divided panels on both A2 cards.
Add a trio of flower petals and brads.
2 OF DIAMONDS
- A=Cranberry Plain
- B=Dark Pink Plain
- C=Light Pink Plain
On this set of cards, I replaced the smaller trimmed panels with art and sentiments from the cutaparts. The remnants can be used with dies or punches to further embellish the cards.
6 OF DIAMONDS
- A=White Bird Print
- B=Blue Plain
- C=White Plain
- D=Cranberry Plain
- E=Dark Pink Plain
This color block formula is one of my all-time favorites for cards. There's just something so striking about seeing all of the coordinating papers come together in harmony on the front of the card.
If you find the non-printed blocks a bit on the plain side, just add texture with embossing folders. This folder from the original Take Wing (09.13) collection couldn't be more perfect!
8 OF DIAMONDS
This formula calls for two 12x12 papers. Since both are trimmed the same way, I chose to trim three papers instead and mix and match the elements.
- A=White Bird Print
- B=Dark Pink Plain
- C=White Plain
You'll notice some of the cards look a bit "nekkid". I wanted the finished samples to be a true representation of what can be made from the Love Birds page kit alone. Sixteen of the 29 cards are complete with greetings, ready to mail. The remaining 13 could easily be used as all-occasion or note cards.
That being said, if you've been making cards for any length of time, you likely have a few greeting stamps or sentiment dies in your arsenal that could easily finish off the "nekkid" cards. Am I right?
I invite you to visit my personal blog to see how I finished those final 13 cards with stamps and goodies from my stash.
Happy card making!
