Create more Cabana pages when you pair the Bonus Formula with papers and stamps from the March collection.
Cabana Bonus Formula
Gather six plain papers from the Cabana collection as indicated in the March Bonus Formula.
To recreate my layout, utilize the following paper assignments:
- Med. Blue (Paper A)
- White Custom "Print" (Paper B)
- Gold (Paper C)
- Dk. Blue (Paper D)
- (2) Lt. Blue (Paper E)
Custom "Print" Tutorial
Separate the White (Paper B) from the stack and place it onto a padded work surface. (I use my Club Scrap grid paper pad.) Select the flip flops, hat, and sunglasses from the stamp set and mount them onto small acrylic blocks.
A Club Scrap Ink color swatch helps me find a perfect ink color to coordinate with the collection; in this case, Ocean, Lt. Blue and Caramel CS® Hybrid inks.
Designate one ink color for each image. Stamp the images to fill the 12x12 White paper to create a custom print. Continue adding images rotating each in alternating directions.
Remember to allow the stamped images to "fall off" the edges of the paper to mimic a "real" print.
Once the paper is filled with images, it's ready to be trimmed.
Trimming and Assembly Instructions
Cut and sort the 12x12" papers: Med. Blue (Paper A), Custom White "Print" (Paper B), Gold (Paper C), and Dk. Blue (Paper D) with a paper trimmer*.
Once the trimming is complete, refer to the sketch to dry fit the pieces.
Nest the layered mats and border strips together as shown in the sketch and set aside.
Adhere the custom print near the top of the Left page using the 3x14" acrylic ruler to ensure proper alignment.
Trim two lengths of Gold ribbon slightly longer than the width of the 12x12" Lt. Blue base paper.
Attach the ribbons above and below the custom print and wrap around to the back of the page. Secure the ends with clear tape.
Retrieve the layered mats and adhere to the Left Page.
For the right side of the layout, adhere the large custom print to the Lt. Blue base paper. Position the border strips with the help of a 3x14" acrylic ruler.
Temporarily place the photo mats onto the page. Wrap a small piece of Gold ribbon around the strip next to the photo mat and secure with a knot.
Set the photo mats aside. Place the base paper (upside down) into a stamp platform as shown. Position a sentiment onto the border strip (also upside down).
Pick up the stamp with the lid of the platform and apply Ocean Ink.
Close the lid to transfer the inked stamp to the border strip. Repeat as needed to achieve the desired depth of color on the sentiment.
Add the remaining photo mats and panels to the two base papers. Test-fit the photos over the mats until you're happy with the arrangement.
Hover an 8x8" Grid Ruler over the photo mat with to determine the ideal photo size.
Hover the ruler over the photo to determine if it can be cropped to size without losing any important subject matter.
Crop two 4x6" photos to fit onto a single photo mat. Crop the remaining photos and adhere them to their corresponding mats.
Embellishments
Stamp a sentiment onto a White scrap with Ocean Ink.
Fussy cut the sentiment with scissors...
...and adhere to the corner of one of the photos.
Stamp another sentiment onto a second scrap of White paper with Ocean Ink.
Trim and position the sentiment above the photo mats at the top of the Left page.
Apply Bookbinding Glue dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator to the back of the skinny Gold accent strip.
Adhere to the page, overlapping the sentiment slightly.
