Create an Aviary pop-up shadow box card inspired by this video tutorial by Jennifer Maguire. I love her technique videos and I couldn't wait to make a card with this month's collection!
Aviary Pop-up Shadow Box Card Highlights
Gather papers from the Aviary collection and follow Jennifer's tutorial to construct the card base. I chose Aviary White, Aqua and Mint papers.
Stamp Aviary leaf images onto white paper. Swipe colors onto the stamps with Leaf and Spruce Inks. This adds an interesting texture to the images. Fussy cut the leaves with scissors or an electronic scan and cut system. Set aside for later.
Create the look of a cloudy sky on a scored Aviary Blue panel. Stamp the Shibori image onto the panel in White Pigment Ink.
Stamp two small birdhouse images with Permanent Jet Black Ink on white paper. Fussy cut the inside area of one of the houses and remove the black circle areas. Swipe Ruby and Tangerine Inks directly from the pad over the surface of the paper, leaving a streaked look. Place the panel face down onto a scoring board. Vertically score the panel every 1/8" to create a faux wood texture. Glue the panel over the previously stamped birdhouse image.
Create a pole for the birdhouse with colored pencil and a small strip of white paper. Trim the strip to about an 1/8".
Distress the edges with Earth Ink to add a bit of dimension.
Stamp second generation leaf images onto the Blue panel. Adhere the birdhouse and pole to complete the background.
Glue the bluebird and fussy cut stamped leaf clusters between a Mint and White panel with circular die cut openings.
Complete the card with a sentiment printed from the Aviary Hybrid Kit nested onto a red ribbon. Tuck a large leafy branch under the sentiment to finish the card.
Let's take another look at the finished card.
Happy pop-up making!
