Great minds think alike! I guess both Julie and I thought "recipes" when we first saw this collection.

After last week's Stacked Book Box Challenge, I still had the smallest (5x7") box left to make, so I decided to turn it into a recipe box for a new bride. It would also make a great housewarming or hostess gift.

Assemble the 5x7" Stacked Book Box (Components kit) according to the downloadable instructions. I trimmed my own 50s Kitchen papers (12x12 CS Red Print, 12x12 CS Turquoise Print, 8.5x11" Tan Print), so customizing the box was easy.

Instead of wrapping the inside box frame in paper, I painted it with black acrylic paint. Four mini wood finials were glued to four small wooden blocks to create unique feet for the box. They were also painted with black acrylic.

To add a touch of whimsy to the inside, I removed the clothespin from the back of a Graffiti mini chalkboard, and added the stamped sentiment.

Creating the coordinating recipe cards was super-simple, I stamped 4x6 index cards with images from the 50s Kitchen UM stamps, and adhered them to the 4.25 x 6.25" Photo Mattes from the 50s Kitchen Embellishment Pack.

I hope this project inspires you to start cookin' up some gift ideas of your own! Have a creative day!
