I've always loved the concept of a glue-free book structure. The covers, spine, and even the inner pages are assembled without the use of any adhesive. (Unless you count washi tape?)
The edges of the accordion-folded pages are connected with the adorable washi tape included in the Paradise Deluxe kit.
Embellish the outside cover with the adorable shells you'll find in your Paradise Club Stamp kit.
Trim one sheet of 12x12 Pink/Orange paper and one sheet of 12x12 Lime/Blue paper at 6" to create four 6x12" sheets. (Be aware of the grain direction for easy scoring and folding.) Score at 3, 6 and 9".
Accordion fold along score lines and connect the pieces together with washi tape wherever the seams meet.
Cut two 3x6" mat board covers. Trim two 5x6" pieces from the 8.5x11 White Print. Center the mat boards onto the prints, and wrap the 1" flaps around the left and right edges; burnish.
Trim away each corner at an angle. Remove the papers from the mat boards.
Trim two 3x8" Blue/Lime papers. Center the same mat boards onto the papers and wrap the 1" flaps around the top and bottom edges of the boards.
Trim the four outside corners as shown.
Slide one flap of the 5x6" White Print between the Lime/Blue wrap and the mat board.
Tuck the other flap between the mat board and Lime/Blue wrap on the other side to secure the covers around the boards. No glue!
Slide the outside tabs of the accordion pages between the inside cover wrap and mat board to connect the covers.
Trim a 2.5x6" Pink/Orange and score vertically at 1 and 1.5". Miter the corners.
Slide the prepared paper between the outside covers and mat boards to secure the spine of the book.
If you'd like to watch a video tutorial on how the covers work, Tricia filmed this technique when we released the Moroccan Spice Maze Book project. (Still available!)
Go to the 4:15 mark to watch how she assembles the covers. Her version does not have a spine piece and uses a ribbon for a book closure.
This is a fun project for all ages. Prep a few for the holiday weekend and have the kids make one. They'll think you're a genius!
