The Craft Stick Coasters featured last week on the blog fit perfectly into this handy gift box.
Gather:
- 8-3/4" Square Gunmetal Box Base
- 8-7/8" Square Dark Gray Print Box Lid
- 4-1/2" Square Light Gray Print Box Lid Mat
- 12x12 Off White License Plate Embellishment
- Scor-Pal
Score 1 and 2" from each outside edge of the Box Lid and Box Base.
Cut along the second score lines and stop at the second intersecting score line to create tabs on the top and bottom of the base and lid, as shown.
Add v-shaped notches to the tabs to reduce the bulk during assembly.
Fold along all scores lines and add ATG adhesive to the outer scored areas.
Attach the longest sides together first and fold in the outside tab areas.
Tuck these folded tabs along the short scored sides.
Fold over the final tab to capture the long tabs and create the box shape.
Repeat for the Box Base. Layer the Box Lid Mat onto the Gunmetal Lid and adhere.
For the embellishment, stamp the license plate image from the Jumbo UM five times onto the 12x12" Off White paper using Ash Ink.
Assemble the greeting on an acrylic block, carefully lining up the letters.
Stamp onto one of the license plate images using Mahogany Ink.
Fussy cut all of the license plate images using scissors.
Apply Bookbinding Glue to the front of one of the blank license plates and adhere to a second license plate.
Continue until all the license plates are stacked on top of one another ending with the one featuring the sentiment.
Spread Modge Podge Dimensional Magic over the surface of the license plate. While the medium is fairly tacky, distress the embellishment with Earth and Mahogany Inks rubbed onto the surface and along the edges.
Punch holes using a Crop-a-Dile.
Tie the Rust grosgrain ribbon around the box and secure with a bow. Add brads to the license plate and attach to the lid of the box with Bookbinding Glue.
