Create stunning organic images with a string pulling technique and Club Scrap Re-inkers.

I saw a video of this technique shared several times on Facebook. Intrigued, I gathered my supplies and started to experiment.

String Pulling Technique

Score an 8.5x11 Super Smooth White Cover Stock vertically at 4.25". Trim horizontally at 5.5 to create two scored 5.5x8.5" panels.

Squeeze small puddles of ink onto a non-stick craft mat. I chose to work with Neon Pink, Yellow and Blue re-inkers. Submerge portions of a piece of baking twine into the ink. Be sure to leave an area free of ink for pulling.

Place the opened white panel onto an opened magazine destined for the recycling bin. Carefully lay the string in an interesting pattern onto one side of the open panel.

Close the magazine to fold the panel over the inked string. Slowly pull the string towards you while applying firm pressure on the magazine with the opposite hand. Note: the first pull is very saturated.

Repeat the steps with the same string (do not apply more ink) for a lighter, more defined image.

Allow the inked panels to dry and trim into two smaller panels perfect for card making.

Here are just a few more of my String Pulling experiments. This is the first, second and third generation image of the same string pull with Sapphire and Earth Hybrid re-inkers.

Next, I tried Distress Paints.

Finally, I combined what was left on my craft mat of the Distress Paints and Hybrid Inks (Sapphire and Earth) for this final pull.

I hope you enjoyed learning about this fun technique and that you'll give it a pull!
