TURKISH MAP FOLD STAR BOOK
At Retreat each year, we offer a fun workshop Thursday evening to kick off the weekend. Keeping in mind many folks have been traveling all day, we try to achieve a balance between "cool" and "not too challenging".
This year, that project was the Turkish Map Fold Star Book. This mini book hits the mark by combining the best of two great book structures. Closed, the mini album measures 4.25" square, and features a ribbon closure.
Open, the book creates a look reminiscent of a star book, with plenty of real estate for photos, quotes, etc.
The origami nature of the folded inner structure creates some interesting shapes. To make life easier, we created the Turkish Map Fold stencil. The template makes trimming the unique shapes quick and easy.
I just love how the book looks when it's open. You'd never guess the surprise waiting inside by looking at the outside.
