Inspiration can come from anywhere! In this case, the stamp sentiment "Fewer to-dos. More tah-dahs!" included in Club Scrap's February collection was my muse. The quote inspired me to create a Turquoise To-do list.
Wanting to keep the project simple, I searched through Club Scrap's Pinterest boards for ideas. Eventually, I stumbled upon Karen's Cinema Blog-hop project: Create two mini notebooks from a single composition notebook. I put my own twist on the idea by cutting a mini 5x8" legal notepad vertically down the center.
Turquoise To-do List How To
Trim notepad at 2.5" vertically with a grid ruler and utility knife. This requires a firm hold on the ruler and multiple passes with the knife. (We recommend starting with a brand-new blade.)
Cut two pieces of black card stock to 5.5x 8". Score each vertically at 2-5/8 and 2-7/8".
Wrap the top of each trimmed notepad with washi tape. Apply bookbinding glue to the back of the notepad, and adhere to the right panel, close to the right score line but not covering it. Repeat with second folio.
To create a belly band, cut two 1"x7" strips. Score each horizontally at 2-1/8, 2-3/8, 5 and 5.25".
Temporarily wrap belly band around the closed folio. Use a dab of bookbinding glue to adhere the ends of the strip where they overlap. Repeat with second folio.
Decorating for that Tah-dah! Moment
Trim two pieces of Turquoise print to 2.25 x 7.75". Adhere to outside front cover of each folio. Add embellishments desired.
There are a couple of ways you can decorate the belly band. One option is to punch a circle to fit inside a Turquoise large bronze setting. Adhere to center of setting and fill opening with clear Glossy Accents, Nuvo drops or something similar. Allow to dry completely - overnight, if possible.
Slide belly band onto the closed folio. Use bookbinding glue to adhere bronze setting to the center of the belly band. Back with a circle of coordinating card stock for added sturdiness.
Option 2: Center washi tape onto belly band. Use nesting circle dies to cut circles from coordinating card stock. Stamp sentiment onto white circle. Mat with light blue, sandwiching the belly band between layers.
You now have two fabulous folios that will have you saying, "Tah-dah!"
The notepad folios are great for gifts, grocery lists and more. They can be decorated and customized to suit your personality or that of the recipient. Who knew making lists could be this much fun?!?
