Create last minute Christmas cards with the fun and super easy Split Embossing technique. Gina K shared a wonderful how-to video on her YouTube channel. Be sure to check it out HERE.
Grab your supplies and favorite embossing folders and let's get busy!
Split Embossing Tutorial
Position a panel in an embossing folder as shown. Be sure to place the plate next to and not over the edge of the folder. Full disclosure: I forgot this step and that is why you see a line under the embossed area.
Rotate the panel and insert in a second embossing folder making sure to leave a bit of space between the embossed areas.
I chose to use Gina K's Holiday Flora paired with Cuttlebug's Swiss Dot.
Place the panel into a scoring board horizontally, embossing side down. Make a score line next to the first embossed area. Create a second score line next to the other embossed section.
Card Assembly
The area between the score lines can be used for a stamped sentiment, or in my case, ribbon.
Nest the embossed paper onto a Typeset Red panel. Wrap the ends of the ribbon around the back and secure with clear tape. Knot a second, shorter length of ribbon around the first.
Stamp images from the Blue Christmas stamps onto a white panel with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
Die cut the images with a circle shape. Color the berries with red alcohol markers (Ohuhu).
Color the leaves with green markers.
Cut a slightly larger scalloped circle from a Typeset Green panel. Center the white circle onto the scallop shape.
Add Foam Adhesive Circles (trimmed into two pieces) to the back of the sentiment. Remove the backing and adhere it over the ribbon.
Let's take another look at the completed card.
Blue Christmas Card - Lisa
Lisa chose to work with papers from the Blue Christmas collection. She placed the stamped sentiment between the score lines as suggested in the video tutorial. Her card features Sue Wilson Victorian Tile and Carta Bella Christmas embossing folders. I love her little jingle bell die cut tied with sweet baker's twine bow!
