Create cool backgrounds with layers of color over embossed images with the Ink Trapping Technique challenge. I was inspired by Lindsay's video tutorial found on Pinterest.

Ink Trapping Technique

Stamp the Hello, Sunshine daisy multiple times onto white mixed media paper with Watermark Ink.

Cover the ink with white embossing powder and heat set to melt.

Color the entire panel with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink with an Ink Applicator Brush.

Rub away excess ink with a cloth.

Wipe the panel surface with an anti-static pad. Brush away any excess powder.

Stamp the small starburst images onto the panel with Watermark Ink. Cover with clear embossing powder and heat set to melt.

Color the entire panel with Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink with an Ink Applicator Brush. Rub off excess ink with a dry cloth.

Repeat the step with the anti-static pad, then stamp with the small sun images, clear embossing powder, heat set to melt, and cover the entire panel with Barn Door Distress Oxide Ink. Wipe the panel with a cloth to remove excess ink.

Rub the anti-static pad over the surface of the panel for a final time.

Add small words onto the panel with Watermark ink, sprinkle with red embossing powder and heat set to melt.

Let's take a look at the completed card samples.

Ink Trapping Card Samples - Lisa

Lisa chose to work with the Coffeehouse images paired with Club Scrap Hybrid Inks for her first card sample. Don't have colored embossing powders? Lisa stamped her sentiments with a dark shade of ink and embossed with clear powder.

Lisa chose to stamp the Steppin' Out shoes for each of the ink trapping layers. The Western sentiment and stamped border strip added the perfect finishing touch to the card.
