Create an Idea Deck Mini Album with a combination of cards made with the cutting instructions on the Eight of Clubs from Assembly Line Cardmaking Idea Deck - Volume Two.

I was very intrigued by the unique design of these cards and felt they could easily be transformed into one mini book. I chose to bind them together with a simple kettle stitch and black waxed linen thread.

Idea Deck Mini Album

Select materials from a variety of kits including a quad print from Boardwalk and Firecracker papers.

Fold the quad print according to the instructions for Paper A on the idea deck card. (I chose to create two card bases from Dk. Gray Paper D instead of following the instructions as written.)

I added a fifth paper and made four 4x5.25" Firecracker print mats. I nested these onto the Dk. Gray pages for interest.

Create a stitching template, noting the top and bottom of the card on a scrap piece of paper with pencil lines. Continue to pencil in the measurements for the stitching holes with the help of a grid ruler. Lay the first Boardwalk quad print card in a stitching cradle and line up the template with the edges of the paper.

Pierce holes along the fold at .5, 1.25, 2.25, 3.25, 4.25 and 5" as indicated on the template.

Once all the holes have been made into all four signatures (cards), begin kettle stitching the album together with a yard of waxed linen thread. Watch this video for details on how to perform the stitch.

In order to keep the pockets from opening, add a tiny line of Bookbinding Glue to the short sides of each pocket with a Needle-tipped Applicator.

Decorate the front of the mini book with images from the Firecracker, Cape Cod, and Boardwalk hybrid digital kits. Wrap a matted cutapart strip with ribbons and added dimensional adhesive embellishments. (Visit my CapeCodScrapper Blog for this bonus tutorial.)

Happy bookmaking!
