Create more pages when you pair the August Bonus Formula with papers and stamps from the Freeway collection.
Freeway Bonus Formula
Gather six plain papers from the Freeway collection as indicated in the August Bonus Formula.
I utilized the following paper assignments: Gold (Paper A), Blue (Paper B), and Black (Paper C), White Custom "Print" (Paper D) and two Gray (Paper E) serve as the base of the layout.
Custom "Print" Tutorial
Separate the White (Paper D) from the stack and place it onto a padded work surface. (I use my Club Scrap grid paper pad.) Select the large city streets stamp from the set and mount it onto an 8x8" grid ruler. NOTE: This ruler is 1/8" thick, as compared to the 1/2" thickness of most acrylic stamping blocks. The thin square ruler helps me achieve a cleaner image on the first try. I chose to work with Lt. Blue, Caramel, and Ash Inks.
Begin stamping in the center of the paper with Lt. Blue Ink. Press firmly with the palm of your hand to ensure proper image transfer.
Continue to add images, cleaning the stamp between changing ink colors.
Remember to allow the stamped images to "fall off" the edges of the paper to mimic a "real" print. Once the "print" is complete, it's time to cut the papers according to the instructions in the formula.
Trimming and Assembly
Trim and sort the 12x12" papers: Gold (Paper A), Blue (Paper B), Black (Paper C) and Custom White "Print" (Paper D).
Once the trimming is complete, refer to the sketch to dry fit the pieces.
Adhere any layered panels and photo mats together and set aside.
Position the larger panels and border strips on the background papers with the help of a 3x14" acrylic ruler.
Adhere all of the remaining pieces to the background following the sketch.
I rotated the right page 90 degrees to better accommodate the orientation of my photos.
Before cropping, test fit each photo them over the mats to ensure proper placement.
Place an 8x8" Grid Ruler over the pair of Black rectangle mats on the left page.
Crop a photo to span the two mats based on these measurements. In this case, the 4x6 photo was cropped to 3-3/4x4-3/8".
Continue to crop photos to fit the mats on both sides of the layout. I used the same technique to mat the photo of Alicia and my Mom at the bottom of the right page.
Embellishments
Die cut letters to form a title with an unused photo.
Add Bookbinding Glue dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator to the back of each letter. Adhere to the bottom of the left page.
Stamp the year onto a Black Tag using the number stamps paired with Watermark Ink. Emboss the numbers with silver powder. Thread a piece of Gold ribbon through the hole in the tag. Tie a length of Lt. Blue jute into a simple knot around the ribbon.
Tuck a folded piece of the same Gold ribbon under the photo on the right page.
