If you're a member, Trattoria Lite is already on its way and filled with fun goodies. Create an adorable doily skirt with a few simple steps! Use this technique to make a dimensional hanging ballerina . . .
. . . or an adorable page embellishment!
Doily Skirt Tutorial
Hanging Ballerina
Download the ballerina template, trace and fussy cut from Brown Plain paper.
Stamp text onto the ballerina with White Pigment ink.
Fold the doily in half a total of four times.
Remove the center point with sharp scissors.
Unfold the doily. Cut slits to allow enough room for the ballerina to fit inside.
Slide the doily skirt onto the ballerina.
Make a hole at the top of the ballerina with a paper piercing tool. Insert a piece of thread to form a hanger.
Ballerina Embellishment
Fold the doily in half a total of four times.
Unfold the doily and cut along one of the fold lines to the center of the doily.
Reverse each fold into a mountain fold. Pinch together the peak of the first fold and flatten it so the fold lines up with the center of the previous section to form a pleat.
Continue making pleats with the remaining folds.
Remove the center of the doily with a circle punch to create a perfect waistline for the skirt.
Apply adhesive to the back of the skirt to keep the pleats in place and add to the ballerina. Adhere to a scrapbook page.
My daughter always liked dance class and ballerinas when she was little. She may be 16 years old, but I still thought it was a fun embellishment for her birthday page!
Get ready to dance the night away with this adorable Trattoria project. You may want to save it for next month, too!
Ciao!
