I recently purchased an electronic cutting system and transformed my Lavender Fields digital hybrid images into a custom stencil.
These complex systems are all different (I purchased the Brother Scan N Cut 2 thanks Jac for the recommendation) and take a bit of practice to use correctly and to their full potential. I found that I can create a black and white image in my digital scrapbooking application (iScrapbook) and then convert it to a cutting file that my Brother machine will recognize. With the purchase of the machine, I gained access to their online workspace where I uploaded this image to do the conversion.
Custom Stencil instructions:
Crop single lavender blossom images and repeat them in a row in a random pattern. Note: I made some adjustments to the thickness of the black areas of the lavender blossoms with the help of a drawing tool on my computer.
Upload the image to the electronic cutter's online workspace. Make any adjustments needed to the cutting file and send to the machine.
Cut the images on a sheet of 8.5x11 Super Smooth White Cover Stock. Reserve the cut flowers for embellishments on a scrapbook page or card.
Custom Stenciling on a Scrapbook Page:
Lay the stencil along the bottom edge of a 12x12" Lavender Fields Stone paper. Apply Wilted Violet and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Ink to the open areas of the stencil.
Swipe Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink onto a craft mat and spritz with water. Pick up the water with a paintbrush and flick droplets of color over the stenciled areas.
Fill in some of the open areas with stamped lavender blossoms in a combination of Faded Jeans, Wilted Violet, and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks.
Lavender Bundles Embellishments:
Color the tops of the lavender with Wilted Violet and the stems with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks.
Gather the pieces into small bundles and add to a scrapbook page with Bookbinding Glue dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator.
Custom Stenciling on Cards:
Repeat the stenciling process on white panels and add to the front of a card.
Adhere the lavender bundle to the front of a card for a perfect embellishment.
Happy Crafting!
