Ever get "stuck"? Normally, I have so many ideas and so little time. My Pinterest boards are chock full, so I should be all set, right? But when I found myself with a free few hours the other day, I didn't really know where to begin--which usually leads to a Pinterest binge that wastes an entire afternoon.
I decided to check out the April Challenges on the blog. I found Hetty's April Technique Challenge and decided it was a good place to start.
The Herringbone Technique has been a favorite of mine from the past, but it's been years since I tried it. Here's my version with Botanicals papers and stamps.
The creative juices started flowing, so I browsed around to see what other challenges were posted. There were two that looked fun: Marya's April Card Sketch Challenge and Loree's April Tool Challenge.
Here's my interpretation of the card sketch. The inchies were cut from a panel created using a heat-embossed resist technique with CS hybrid inks and Botanicals stamps. (Did you notice some of the strips in the herringbone card above were cut from the same panel?)
Finally, April's challenge tool was the Gelli Plate. It had been a while for that, too, so I got mine out to play.
The acrylic paints I used were darker and more opaque than I wanted, so I misted a bit of water onto the gel plate--I love the soft water color effect result, don't you?
I encourage you check out these challenges the next time you have some crafty free time!
